Moxibustion, also known as heat therapy, is one of the cornerstones of Traditional Oriental Medicine, and has been practiced for over thousands of years, before acupuncture even existed.
Moxibustion is the application of heat to acupuncture points or sensitive locations on the body. This warms and stimulates the blood, whilst encouraging qi circulation, removing present obstructions, and eliminates cold and dampness in the muscles and joints. Moxibustion is as such known as the treatment of choice for pain and stiffness, arthritis, frozen shoulder, and lower back pain. Other conditions that may also improve with Moxibustion include stomach pain, cold hands and feet, lack of energy, winter coughs, and colds.
Moxibustion therapy is an excellent substitute for those who are overly sensitive to needle stimulation, especially in children and the frail.
Dean specialises in moxibustion therapy, and performs treatments from his clinic on Auckland’s North Shore. If you’d like to learn more about Moxibustion (or any of our other services), please contact us.
Please note, an initial consultation is required before performing moxibustion therapy.
Please first book in for an acupuncture consultation where we can see how best to treat your injuries/symptoms.
