Massage North Shore Auckland

Massage, Albany, North Shore Auckland – Tuina, Myofascial, Craniosacral, Relaxation, Therapeutic, and Sports Massage. Deans massage clinic

Hi, I’m Dean — a qualified and ACC-registered practitioner of acupuncture, Chinese Tuina massage, and herbal medicine. I’ve trained in a wide range of massage and bodywork styles and specialise in helping people relieve pain, ease tension, recover from injury, and feel more balanced.

Whether you’re dealing with tight muscles, stress, fatigue, digestive issues like bloating, or just feeling off — I tailor each massage to suit your needs. I also support athletes and active people with performance, mobility, and injury recovery.

If you have an approved ACC injury claim, I can combine therapeutic Chinese Tuina massage with acupuncture in the same session. You’ll only pay a $30 surcharge — ACC covers the rest.

What Sets My Approach Apart

I’m a registered acupuncturist with ACC and a qualified yoga therapist, with over 20 years of experience in massage, Chinese medicine, and mind-body practices. My sessions aren’t one-size-fits-all — I tailor each treatment to suit what you need on the day.

Whether it’s pain, tension, fatigue, or deeper emotional stress, I draw on a wide range of techniques — from Tuina and myofascial release to craniosacral and relaxation-based therapies. I also work with the mental and energetic side of recovery, not just the physical.

When useful, I include simple breathing practices, yoga-based movement, or meditation — tools you can use at home to support the treatment and keep stress and tension down between sessions. My aim is for you to leave with something practical, not just feel better in the moment.

Not Sure What to Book

No problem — you don’t need to figure it out beforehand. Just book a session, and we’ll decide what approach is best on the day. I’ll tailor the treatment based on what’s going on with your body and what you need most — whether that’s Tuina, therapeutic massage, craniosacral therapy, or a blend.

Massage – Common Questions

Either can be helpful, depending on your goal. If you’re holding tension, massage before acupuncture can help the body relax and allow the needles to work more deeply. If you’re doing deep therapeutic work with needles, a massage after can help release any lingering tightness. I often combine both in one session when appropriate.

Try not to eat a heavy meal right before your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and arrive a few minutes early to settle in.

No, there’s no need to shave. Your comfort is what matters most — massage works just as well regardless.

Yes — a light, recovery-focused massage 1–2 days before a race can help with circulation and muscle readiness. Avoid deep tissue work right before race day, as it can cause soreness.

In most cases, yes — gentle massage can help relax the body and reduce stress. However, always check with your healthcare provider if you’re preparing for surgery.

A full body massage typically includes the back, legs, arms, neck, shoulders, and sometimes the scalp and feet. I always adjust the session based on your comfort and goals. You can let me know what areas you’d like to focus on or avoid.

Yes — I offer deep tissue techniques as part of a treatment when it’s needed. I combine it with other methods like Tuina, myofascial release, and relaxation-based approaches, depending on what’s best for your body that day. If you’re looking for firm, targeted work to release stubborn tension, just let me know and we’ll tailor the session to suit.

It’s normal to feel a bit sore afterward — deep tissue work targets stubborn tension and can stir things up in the muscles. This usually fades within a day or two and often leads to longer-term relief. Drinking water, light movement, and rest can help ease the after-effects.

Yes — lymphatic drainage techniques can support circulation and reduce puffiness. Some clients also find it helps smooth the appearance of skin over time, especially when combined with healthy habits.

Massage isn’t just about relaxation — it’s a powerful tool for addressing a wide range of physical and mental health concerns. I tailor each session to support your unique needs.

Massage can help with:

  • Muscle tension and tightness – Especially in the neck, shoulders, back, and hips

  • Injuries and recovery – Including sports injuries, ACC-covered issues, or post-surgical support

  • Chronic pain – Such as headaches, migraines, jaw tension, and lower back pain

  • Stress and anxiety – By calming the nervous system and easing physical tension

  • Fatigue and burnout – Restoring energy and supporting deep rest

  • Poor posture and movement patterns – Loosening tight areas and improving body awareness

  • Lymphatic support – Gentle drainage techniques for fluid retention or swelling

  • Digestive issues and menstrual pain – When relevant, abdominal massage may be included

  • Overall well-being – For maintenance, prevention, or simply feeling more balanced

Every treatment draws from a range of techniques like Tuina, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and relaxation-based work — adjusted to suit how your body feels on the day.

Massage also works well alongside acupuncture as part of a complete approach to pain relief, stress management, and long-term healing.
